I went to a charity Toyota event thing last week. It was good.
Most of the turnout was sedans, surprisingly. Crowns and Cressies and Athletes and Majestas etc etc etc.
The wheels ruin the car, no doubt. But it’s still awesome as shit
Relatively clean R32 2-door. Outside the event.
A Lexus LS I think. Had LED taillights that could make patterns. I don’t go for stance but this had it
Riced R34, also outside the event. Still fairly cool to see
I took this because I know you ‘Muricans don’t have S15s
The condition of this thing was unfathomable. Flawless metallic paint. And those STICKERS!
The ol’ sausage in bread+toyota combo
Another car in incredible condition, AW11 MR-2 NA without t-tops. Interesting that the sunroof comes out completely. Very period
Flawless
Many of these Crown wags
Love the big factory-ish decals
These taillights can make patterns and stuff
God that looks sick
That’s my baby in the background!
The crew I was with, this is before the show
Cheeky mainstay of the car scene in Melbs. Yes that’s a turbo on the shed thing to the right. Dude’s numberplate is HSPDLR, comedy gold. Traded in his C63 AMG for this SRT Jeep
Couple of Supras followed us. Saw a fluro FD which I almost missed completely because I was checking out a Z32.
Side note: this stuff makes me sad. Any of these cars could be purchased for pocket change (not the R34 lol). I want to buy them all and put them in a big garage and drive them at will. But I can’t. And if I ever can, prices will be through the roof I expect.
That Supra’s interior really set me off. And made me pine for my old

You may not know it, but you spotted a unicorn if that R34 GT-R is a factory Active Red car. Only 61(!) V-Specs were produced in that color, and I think it was only for the ‘99 model year!

Is that blue 2nd gen MR2 yours? Almost identical to mine when I first got it:

Factory 4Runner Turbo! Did you note the digital dash?

That safari rigg turbo 4 runner is fucking awesome!

Haha, wow! Had no idea. The first thing I said when I saw it was it should be Bayside Blue or MNPurple. Guess not ;)

Yep, that’s mine. Love it. There’s another that lives around the corner from me in the same color, which I think is extraordinary.

Holy shit! No I did not! I noticed it on the Maroon Supra but the pic didn’t come through.
I love a digi dash :(

It’s fantastic. Someone spent a lot of work on that thing, and I imagine it isn’t worth all that much (yet). Labor of love.

I remember bits and pieces. I think I recall something from Dino of Speedhunters mentioning the rarity of Active Red and Lightning Yellow and it stuck. I decided to double-check my memories and it turns out it was rarer than I originally thought!
Also, from Torque GT on their own imported R34 (who got their numbers from the GTR-Registry ):
Firstly lets put the rarity of this GTR into context. From the 11,577* R34 GTRs ever produced there were only 61 Active Red (AR2)* V-specs released in Japan, which made it the rarest bar Lightning Yellow (44)*. That’s nearly 5 times less than Midnight Purple II (282)* and less than half that of Midnight Purple III (132)*

Yep, I need an aw11

Those are rare and absolutely loaded.

Aw man. Had no idea.

I seem to have decent luck finding 80s Toyotas.

Impressive, very nice

thanks. it’s far from perfect, but rust-free underneath so it was a great starting point. it’s a leisurely restoration/upgrade project :)

I hope to see more of it. Red interior?
![]() 07/12/2018 at 10:08 |

Yep! Interior is pretty clean too. Some wear on the seat and the e-brake boot, and a crack on the gauge surround that you can’t really see, but other than that it’s in great shape. I’ve replaced the shift knob with a custom milled one that a friend made and anodized, and put a Nardi classic steering wheel in it.
Seats will get replaced with some Braum units (in maroon of course!) and I’ll be picking up the surround to fix that, and it’ll be pretty much done. :)

God that’s good. I want sunset shots with the roof off. Diggity dash?

No, analog.

I once had a Z31. Same thing, analog dash. Very sad.

Nah, I like the pale green lights on the 80s analogue stuff.
No sunset pics but here’s with the roof off:

The Z31 was orange lights mostly. The whole damn dash was brown. It worked.
Awesome! God that interior is damn cool. Especially on a white car. Great profile
